Day 9: Scabs Nearly Gone & Redness Fading
By day 9 the recipient area should be mostly scab-free with pink, healing skin underneath. Remaining crusts will clear over the next few washes. You’re days away from grafts being considered firmly anchored.
What to expect
- Only stubborn scabs remaining, mostly at the crown or dense-pack zones
- Visible short stubble where hairs haven’t shed yet
- Donor area nearly back to normal appearance (FUE dots fading)
How to care for it
- If scabs persist past day 10–12, ask your clinic about a longer lather-soak during washes
- Keep skipping styling products, dyes, and harsh shampoos
Is this normal?
- Normal Patchy stubble-and-bare mix across the recipient area
- Normal Mild residual numbness
Contact your clinic promptly if you notice
- Scabs that look wet, weepy, or yellow rather than dry — possible infection, contact your clinic
Frequently asked questions
When do hair transplant scabs fall off completely?
Typically days 7–14 with gentle daily washing. If dry scabs linger past two weeks, clinics often recommend longer moisturizer or lather soaks — never picking or scraping them off.
